About the project
Nestled just outside the pretty village of Westbury on the Northamptonshire border with Oxfordshire, this old farmhouse felt so tranquil and calm. We were greeted either side of the driveway with cows, who were very inquisitive and made for a pleasant welcome. The renovation of the farmhouse kitchen had been on top of the list and wow what a gem it turned out to be. The old Aga was at one end of the room and the housekeeper informed us she had been cooking on it for 50 years, how fantastic is that and still looking splendid.
The owners had lots of input being interior designers themselves, so we listened to what they were hoping to achieve and with a few tweaks, we created this wonderful contemporary handle-less kitchen with a mixture of pan drawers and cupboards, providing plenty of storage whilst still allowing the family to display their lovely crockery and glassware.
The choice of a blacked honed granite worktop worked so well with the white and wooden cabinets and added to the uncomplicated and cool feel of this kitchen. The lovely large island was the perfect spot to relax and chat away to whoever’s pottering about in the kitchen. Table placement is a big factor, but this long farmhouse table was perfectly placed for summer evenings with the French doors ajar, listening to the evening birdsong. What a space, what a kitchen!
