About the project
Tucked away in a sleepy Buckinghamshire village, the old minister’s cottage stood as a silent witness to the passage of time. Built in 1839, its brick walls held memories of countless seasons and families who had lived and loved within its embrace.
Our clients were captivated by the cottage’s history, drawn to the stories that seemed to linger in the air. They envisioned a transformation—one that would honor the past while embracing the present. Their dream centered around the kitchen, a space that would welcome light, air, and warmth.
The Shaker-style design, with its simple, elegant lines, was the perfect choice, blending harmoniously with the old walls and wooden beams. But beyond layout, it was the attention to detail that brought the kitchen to life. Tongue-and-groove panels, a reclaimed oak breakfast bar, and a Belfast sink with aged brass taps offered a subtle nod to the cottage’s heritage, while feeling at home in the new design.
Positioned to overlook the garden, the sink became a focal point, with French patio doors opening out to the variety of perennials that bloom throughout the year. This connection to the outdoors breathed new life into the space, transforming the kitchen into the heart of the home.
As the renovation came to an end, the kitchen stood as a testament to what could be achieved with vision, care, and a deep respect for history. The couple had done more than just renovate a room; they had revitalized the home, ensuring its story would continue for generations to come.
